So much to see!

The Victoria and Albert is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. Collections include ceramics, fashion, furniture, glass, metalwork, paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture and textiles.

  • The museum is home to a wide range of events from concerts to catwalk fashion shows.
  • The V&A has lots of exciting free events and activities for families.
  • Events, workshops and courses for 11-19 year olds as well as youth inclusion projects and youth consultation projects for young people up to the age of 24.
  • A broad programme of courses, conferences, lectures, gallery talks, demonstrations and workshops.

The V&A has its origins in The Great Exhibition of 1851, with which Henry Cole the museum’s first director was involved in planning. The laying of the foundation stone of the current building in 1899 was the last official public appearance by Queen Victoria.
