Great Places To Visit

Felixstowe Museum

The museum houses 14 rooms of artifacts, exhibitions and information which displays the military and social history of this popular seaside resort. Even the building is of historical interest as it was once a submarine mining establisment.

Collections reflect the historic location of the museum, which is located within Landguard Fort, the site of the last opposed invasion of England in 1667 and the first land battle of the Royal Marines.

Landguard was also a seaplane air station of the Royal Naval Air Service, home to the Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment and RAF Felixstowe. Much development work for the Supermarine racing planes (ancestors to the Spitfire) of the 1930s was carried out here.
