RAMM holds the leading collection of prehistoric material from Devon, with objects spanning the period from c.500,000 years ago to the Roman Conquest.

The long tradition of Devonshire craft is well represented in the collections of decorative art.

The Museum’s fine art collection comprises over 7,000 objects in an eclectic mix of paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture, representing important British artists and celebrating the museum’s location in the South West.

The Museum holds a mixture of architectural pieces, archaeological finds from excavations, models, numismatic specimens, prints, paintings and drawings reflecting Exeter’s distinguished past.

The Natural History collection is one of the largest in the country and is truly international in content.

RAMM holds one of the leading English collections of ethnographic specimens, reflecting local families’ involvements abroad. The collection is particularly strong in West African tribal art and in artefacts from the Pacific, some of the latter being objects collected by Captain Cook.

Winner of Sandford Award 2006.
